So, subscriptions are going to begin 1 year after the original release.

I'm actually happy about this. Sure a few people will quit and wait for 2.0, but I'm willing to stick with the game and invest in it's future. For those here that have wanted a way to support the team and the development of the game, this is how we do it.

Surprisingly, many players haven't noticed yet is that SE is going to create a special storyline that builds up to 2.0 and won't be available afterwards.

It's all in the Development Roadmap.

The fact that those who play through the next year will get special content that the 2.0 players will not ever get -- is something that I feel is worth the price of admission.

Exactly what I've stated on several threads at this point. I completely concur. I don't feel like I'm paying for nothing, I feel like I'm paying to play a game that I like and see content that no one will ever see again.

A year goes by so quickly, I think people often fail to realize this. 2.0 will be here before anyone realizes it and I for one can't wait! Everything that was presented to us today was awesome and spot on what I was hoping that they were going to do. I have very few complaints. I will say that I think it sucks that 2.0 is a year away, I wish it was sooner, but I can be patient and enjoy each of the patches that come our way.

Honestly, I like the "here and now" story that'll go up to 2.0. I think it's an awesome idea, and loved it ever since they started doing it with the easter event (which sadly I did not actually participate in due to my gaming PC being borked at the time). I hope even after the revamp they continue to do this, and make Eorzea a changing world where events happen in "real time" as it were. It makes the players a part of the history, that something that happened most definitely happened in the past, that was then and this is now. From a lore perspective that sounds pretty amazing, and I want to be there even if I have to pony up a few bucks a month.
