Black Mage Help?

I am pretty new to this game but have been leveling fairly quickly. I have been on maybe 3 weeks, almost a month and I am a level 42 Black Mage. However, I noticed that I am still a little lost when it comes to the best abilities and the best ways to use my mage. Love being a BLM but I want to make sure I am contributing everything I can in dungeons to not weigh the team down.
Any tips or general things I should know?? Thanks!

Black Mage isn't as complex as most people make it (until you learn Fire IV that is). As for your current level you really can not go wrong with a simple rotation of; Swiftcast > Fire III > Fire I (until low on MP) > Blizzard III > Thunder (and Thunder III whenever it procs) > Repeat
