-Beta:Yes -One time event:Yes -Paying:dundundun

I see some people complaining about the fees. I hope they realize this next year is a one time deal. We are going to see a brand new game unfold right underneath our own feet. All the event are real time(almost), we are essentially playing a prequel of FFXIV in a beta form. We are really going to give the bards something to sing about.(probably should quote that)So, this is the first time I've seen an mmo do this. . Soo, how I look at it, we are playing a betaish game, that BIG events are going to happen, that we are the only ones EVER going to see it/experience it/feel it. Talk about immersion I say.

We'll be the old timers in the game saying "Back in my day..." And the noobs will listen to our tales of woe and triumph and revere us as their elders. I like that idea, thanks for giving me a reason to go head over heels back into this game >.>

I am entirely thrilled about the unique storyline only we the "beta" players will get to experience. To see the areas transform and learn about how the present-XIV (2.0) will be will definitely be an incredible experience.

Well, they said they are going to implement something where you can watch all the cut-scenes. Throw back to any FF? Anyone? huh?

This post makes sense too..but I still don't wanna pay :P

If this ends up being a success for SE, they will have revived the notion that they can emerge from the ashes in the face of defeat (ahem Final Fantasy 1) yet again; as well as do something no mmo has ever done. This can go down in history as the most epic mmo rebirth ever.

I can already imagine myself playing 2.0 talking it up with newcomers about how "ye olden days of Eorzea" used to be when we didn't even have mailboxes or steeds to call our own. Those of us who stayed should be revered as the elders of 2.0 and given special titles and gear.
