PvP for Yoshi-P!
I think it would "fit" the FF14 world to hit accept for a duel or party vs. party request. In doing so, the screen would have a cool transition to a battlefield-instance where everyone fights.
(Even better if you could somehow choose which battlefield to go to)
Basically, to keep some FF-flavor going on, the screen transition to the field would have a great feeling. At the end the winner would hear the victory fanfare and be rewarded something to make it worthwhile (credits or PvP points of some sort perhaps).
What are your thoughts?

was in ffxi called brenner it was 1v1 or ls vs ls...... used? 1% If that no one really liked it. same as ballista. Me i liked it, it was cool trying to fight in a smaller version of the orc out post in west ron. Or bibiky bay.
Think jp used it more unsure. I know they do ballista a bit.

Yeah, Brenner was used for a very short time after released. It was new content born dead though. The community had already given up on Ballista and didn't see the point in PvP.
To this day there still is no reason to do PvP in FF11. That's why i hope they reward something to the winners at the end. Not just silly PvP-only rewards either.

ya the lore for those are training excersises/ war game from the past. (before the crystal war) And only the japanese got it. Since they still have their old world traditions for the most part. Like kendo was used to train samurai ( i would kill for a kendo themed pvp ffxiv style) That have very strict rules on forms, and strikes. And have to shout where you are hiting as you hit. Like head, wrist. And even if you hit, if you strike or stance was weak it will not count.
>.> I looked it up.......

Ballista was used somewhat in FFXI. Over the years it did die down drastically. I remember games being packed when I first started playing FFXI. Brenner went through the same cycle but much quicker. I ran a active LS for awhile and we did use it for LS versus LS sometimes or as a LS event but that's about it. The problem with PVP in FFXI and I'd say FFXIV is how slow the combat system is and the lack of mobility. It makes for rather boring fights. In FFXI at least there was auto attacking and more reactive abilities. It's an idea to work on though, never know what the future holds.

It probably died for 2 reasons: Unbalanced and WAY to much good PVE.
I'm not a PVP fan and I hated XI PVP because of just how easy some classes could mess you up, blm and rdm way overpowered, even whm a little, drk was, but some others got real messed over then it became a game of trying to get behind the guys so you'd have 2 people on lockon circling each other like they making babies.
The game was tooo grounded to be PVP, Aion/Tera more open battle games are better for PVP imo.
I'm not against PVP but I dont think it will work in XIV much, and if they do add it, i hope either Dual requests like op said or white pages from XI, running out to outposts to ballista was a bitch.
