Hello!

I was reading this old topic about Merlwyb:

And found some parts quoted. Is there any website with the whole script, including sidequests? Anything about 1.0, too?

I'm slowly collecting and polishing them on my own (with footnotes and quest maps and all that jazz), but it'll be forever until that's done since it's, like, just me, Hez, and Vik. (For 1.0, I have them all but I haven't published them all. Formatting and fact checking is a nightmare.)

In the meantime, Clorifex over at Garland Data was actually able to database ARR+ using my formatting, but you have to look it up quest by quest. You run into issues here and there (it's missing voiced cutscenes, sometimes it's out of order, etc.) but it's still damn useful for the average loremonger.

Looks like the dialogue tab is also back with XIVDB 2.0. The formatting isn't as complex as Garland, but the page is also wider.

Oh, thanks a lot! That will help, I have a special interest in Lominsan stuff, so I have an idea where to start! About the 1.0 stuff, I think it'll be worth the wait! I was watching a video about 1.0, saw some stuff about greenwrath and was asking myself why that thing is not... a thing anymore. And then, question after question. Would love to see what else was dropped.

I've been lurking here for some time, gotta say I love all the lore material you guys share around! BTW, are you one of the guys behind this http://ffxiv.gamerescape.com/ ?

A lot of things that applied only to one city were relegated to the back burner.
They're still canon, but get very little attention. Maybe again, someday, eh?

I think I'm the only one currently both affiliated with Gamer Escape and active on the forums. I ended up falling in with them after Version 1 crashed and burned and lots of the communities dried up and called it quits. The people behind GE (who were prominent with XIclopedia but wanted more freedom under an independent site covering multiple SE MMOs) invested a lot of their own money to keep it alive until ARR came around, and they offered me the resources to publish summaries and play in the lore-preservation sandbox. I'm a big fan of traditional wikis (though databases like XIVDB and Garland Data are also extremely useful). However, even now, the GE team is pretty small and casual editors are super rare. It's been a big challenge trying to reinvigorate the XIV-related communities.

I would love to see a return of the black shroud being more than a forest, as well as perhaps the revival of piracy. :)

Doubtful. Its been repeatedly said that the elementals took a *huge* hit during the Calamity, and according to Alphinaud it will take centuries before they're back to full strength. The upside is that the Greenwrath is no longer the big issue it was pre-Calamity, meaning Gridania can now afford to be a little more open to outsiders. Or at least slightly less concerned. The downside is, well, now the forest is wide-open to attack.

The other upside is that the elementals seem to view the Spoken living in the forest in a slightly more positive light now. Understandable since they and the forest as a whole are now at the mercy of the Spoken, and the Gridanians have responded by continuing to honor their pact, while doing everything in their power to protect and restore the forest. In the 50-60 WHM quests, Raya-O and her brother discuss communing with the Great One (the central consciousness of the forest), who warns them of the Taint for that storyline. Since I was under the impression that previously the Great One had to be outright put to sleep to keep him from razing Gridania, it seems the Quieting ceremony just soothed him instead. Additionally, during the CNJ questline, you actually have the otherwise-absent elementals show up to help you during one battle.

About the Elementals...

I was watching 'The Waning of the Sixth Sun' and saw Kan-e's speech. There is a lord among Elementals who says that "Nophica will never abandon us to the darkness."

Would that prove that The Twelve are real and not just a myth? Or would the Elementals be playful with the idea of gods, kinda like the Occuria?

Or maybe they just don't give a crap and play along.

Interestingly in 1.0's original Gridanian storyline a moogle of all things stated that Yda, Papalymo and the player had been declared by the "great guardian spirit of Everschade to be Messengers of Nophica" - this statement surprised even E-Sumi-Yan. Unfortunately this plot idea was never elaborated on or resolved so I long assumed it had been quietly dropped.

Ferne actually stated back on the old 1.0 forums that the Twelve actually do indeed exist, but their true form may not necessarily be what the spoken races believe them to be, which led to a lot of wild and interesting speculations.

Of course we are actually yet to see the Twelve (Louisoix's desperate gamble at summoning their power Primal-style during the Calamity doesn't count), but given Hydaelyn Herself is... a giant sentient crystal, I wouldn't be surprised if the Twelve are also really obtuse in form as well. These tropes at work I guess.

We still have a few. The openings mention you being smiled upon by the city's guardian deity, and the main character of the BLM storyline mentions receiving messages directly from Nald'thal. Then again, Midgardsormr was said to be Althyk and Nymeia's doing and he's only mentioned Hydaelyn. You can never be sure when people are talking about the divine, lol.
