Developers: Why are you "limiting" FFXIV to the PS3 as you limited FF11 to the PS2?

I would like for any of the developers or staff members to answer US the players this, because I SERIOUSLY think that despite what some people might get upset with me, that the PS3 will limit, and hurt the game in more ways than it will help it. Given the FIRST MAYOR FAILURE FFXIV experienced, I think releasing the game on the PS3 will be a major mistake.

This is in a very objective way and from a player that was "loyal" to the FF11 PS2 cause and they made the transition to the PC VERSION and experienced a totally different and BETTER GAME once on PC

First, the game is scheduled to be released on the PS3 on 2013 right? The PS3's "early" years will be over and the game will be released on and "old" console. Now we all know the story on FF1

Dont deny developers that many of the things that NEVER got implemnted on FF11 were becaue of the limitations on the PS2. You even made a poll recently to see the current system that people use to currently play FF11. A console has its limits and with a PC, you will always have much more rook to improve and do little upgrades as you see fit.

FF11 gave us re-used zones over and over and over. re-used models over and over. How many times in FF11´s history did we hear the term FROM YOU GUYS AT SE "PS2 limitation this, PS2 limitation that"?

Limitations in inventory space
Limitation in graphical improvements
Limitations in content

Why are you releasing this game and making the same mistake once again? At this point it might even be smarter to wait for hte NEXT PS4 or the Next Xbox? I am really dissapointed on this decision.

How long will it be when people start asking for features in the game and we starte hearing from you guys "We would love to do that, but due to PS3 limiations bla bla bla"?

Are you going to tell us that the PS3 is extremely powerful and that it wont hurt the game? If that is the case let us know?

Have you found a way to magically increase the ram on the PS3 or a way to make better use of it?

Are you aware that giving the ADDONS feature is doing the very same thing you FORBID on FF11 with the people that used WINDOWER? .Sstating that it would place people on the PS2 with a disadvantage and hence banning the use or addons in FF11? Well you are now creating that disadvantage yourselves.

I think you guys are risking tooo much. You should be grateful that FFXIV seems to be saved, and now that you managed that, you go ahead and hurt the game with the PS3.

Final Fantasy 11 could have been SO MUCH, if it weren't for the binds, shackles and limitations the PS2 brought to it. No room for totally new areas, no room for new races or for a slight graphical improvement?

I hope you have a plan and are aware that you are RE-Releasing a FAILED game on a console that will be on its last years.

I hope a dev has the guts to reply and explain this bad decision.

They are not limiting anything at all. They did mention many times that FFXIV might be ported to other platforms in the future. One thing at a time bro. If the PS3 release proves to be a success we will see it for sure on the 360 and even maybe on the WII U and MAC.

You are not getting my point. THE FUTURE of this game will be LIMITED. As years go by and the game grows, the PS3 will start to hold back FFXIV

FFXI always had the ability to have up to 255 inventory slots, level up to 255, up to 255 zones (about 220 were used in the end), etc.

PS2 limitations was Tanaka's excuse to make HIS game HIS way, against what the players wanted. He tried it again here with XIV, but thank the Twelve they fired him early on.

First mayor Failure of FFXIVille was a pretty cool guy.

yeah but you cant release a final fantasy title without it being on console. It's a Japanese company they are console gamers. They invented Nintendo when we had 2 thousand dollar personal pc's to play txt based rpgs.

Dont tell me that the areas reused on wings of the goddess, and abyssea are not limitations?
Dont tell me that the game never got a slight graphical improvement because of the ps2?

The PS3 is a massively advanced piece of hardware, but the PS2 was not on par with current PC's on the market at the time. Right now, the PS3 is also easily upgradable, and has a huge hard drive as standard, with the option of adding your own HDD's too. I see no limitations for a long long time.
