Rebuilding of Ishgard?

Will we ever see the rebuilding of Ishgard?
As the storyline progresses, I think it will be awesome if the rubble gets cleared up and things get rebuilt.

If the story progresses to a new golden age of dragon-elvaan cooperation, I will love to see Draconic icons sprouting up over town after the civil unrest is cleared up.

This was actually discussed before in an interview, but I can't remember which or where I read it.

Basically, SE doesn't want to instance Ishgard for players newly arriving, so it's going to stay ruined.

That sort of attitude is going to risk making the game world and story feel very stagnant. New arrivals to Mor Dhona will see Revenant's Toll as a massive fortress rather than the humble encampment it started as originally - and if need be I'm sure that they could make use of phasing to make Ishgard look different depending upon the stage someone is in a quest.

Are they planning to just ignore Ishgard once we're done with Heavensward? That'd be a shame. It's a beautifully designed location that deserves a lot of love and attention.

Everywhere in the game is beautifully designed and deserves a lot of love and attention, yet once they're done with their business there people rarely revisit a location. Sadly, most players just loiter around in the endgame gear vendor location (Revenant's Toll / Idyllshire) instead of spending time out in the world because it gives them no pluses.

I visit the Hermit's Hovel often, but that's just me... have yet to get newly-minted MCH shooting up the place, that I might tell them to get off my lawn.

Anyway, while it would (err, will) be a shame that we'll likely not revisit Ishgard often after 3.x, the same is true of most all the rest of Eorzea after 2.x. We spent a precious few moments (poorly) resolving the Ul'dahn Revolution arc and yanked Y'shtola out of the Lifestream, but besides that the entirety of 3.0 was in Ishgard and the surrounding territories. It's just the nature of the beast.

They don't need to instance the entire zone on the server. Just see what they did to Mor Dhona, Ildyshire and the Vanu village.
Just load slightly different assets based on storyline progression, almost entirely client-side.

I'm assuming Ishgard will progress in a similar fashion, just slower. It wouldn't be surprising that they eventually start fixing the place up. I don't think we can expect this for several patches though. If there concern is for keeping up appearances for new players, than they won't make any changes until the current expansion content is "old." They did something similar in the past... though, for the life of me I can't remember what about. I know they used the subscription renewal numbers as part of the justification though.

To be fair, Ishgard does get trashed rather often and not just from dragon attacks.

Until Nidhogg is actually dealt with, SE can probably continue to use his horde as an excuse.
