Just wondering if you guys are using the same "next-gen, DX11, photorealistic" engine that I saw in the news the other day.
If so, this game is going to be amazing. DX11 is awesome.

While I think DX11 can make games look amazing, that's only if they're programmed correctly. Square-Enix has a lot of work cut out for them to make Ver. 2 good, not just DirectX upgrade.
It can't rely too heavily on DX11 or it won't be compatible with the PS3 and Windows XP systems. I'm a little worried the switch will simply downgrade the graphics to be more compatible with the PS3.
No, I don't see this happening. All they need to do is have settings that work. The PS3 isn't weak by any means, it's just not as powerful as a good PC, so they have quite a bit to work with. Having to deal with a lower resolution on the PS3, they can make a "lower setting" that will also run on the PC. With higher settings on PC, it'll just upgrade the textures/effects/etc., much like Final Fantasy XI did when comparing the PC and PS2 versions.
can I has alt+tab functionality??
With the head of the Luminous engine joining the development team as part of the restructuring a year ago, and in the light of Versus FFXIII using a modified Crystal/Luminous engine. I am willing to bet that some, if not all of the Luminous engine will be the base for the new FFXIV. Whether or not they support DX11 is another question, since they still want to keep PS3/PC parity etc etc.
