I hate to be another person to say "bring back an xi feature"
But it would be great to have a custom simple map marker system such as xi's.
Example: Limsa Lominsa - there are so many caves and certain mobs only spawn in specific locations. It's a little difficult to just mentally keep them in order.
In said previous game for the ill informed, you could use your joystick / mouse, click on a spot on the map, and give it a limited character name/codename to help you remember areas / zones / etc..
Yeah, this would be nice... Just one of many helpful little features that SE seemed to forget about...
I agree with this. I would love some way to mark my map with harvesting locations.

I would also like quest that are active in my journal to show up if possible on the map. I know you can just go in the journal and press map, but for example the other day I collected every quest possible from Ul'dah and Limsa so I had a few about 11 or 12 I think. Checking each location of where to go next on each quest was a pain and I kept forgetting which ones are where.
It would have been great to just look at the normal map while I was in the zone and see that I needed to go here, here and here so I could plan the best route to take. This would have been especially great for the Gridania Quests in The Black Shroud.
They already know they have some work to do on the maps and incorporating the journal a little better. Just throwing my change into the bin
Hey, FFXI has alot of good feature that the old devs just blow off for some odd reason. Map marker is a great idea.

In places with teleporters, it definitely helps to where each one goes straight. Not to mention how much it helps keep track of possible chest pops (if we ever get anything like coffers and chests) and road blocks that are shown as passable on the map (looking at you Mun-Tuy Cellars and Nanawa Mines)
During certain quests, the quest-giving NPCs say "I'll mark your map with the location of <such and such>," but I've never seen any markings appear on my map.
