Game Frozen When Out of Focus

So it seems that other people are having this problem too, but ever since 3.1 Final Fantasy XIV has been crashing every time I either alt tab or go to another window on my second monitor. This only happens in DX11 and I have tried everything short of a clean install which I do not want to go through again within 4 months. The only "real" solution I found was if you are alone in say an inn or private chambers then it works but anywhere else and boom it crashes. The other solution is to go back to dirty DX9 until Square Enix fixes what broke in 3.1.

By the way, I run a Nvidia 980ti with Windows 7 on a SSD.
