Priorities for newbies?
Hi there,
I'm pretty new to FFXIV, I got heavensward and I'm on my way power leveling to get to 60 as soon as I can as as a summoner before I focus on any other classes and jobs. As a general player I know the best gear in the game is earned from raids. My general question is how would I be able to get into raids with other people and what other priorities and statistics, currencies should I be earning by the time I hit cap. What gear should I hit at 60 to be prepared for raids or to be a candidate that people would want me.

This is an old Blog post about progression at 60.
This is a brief guide about level 50 content that was added between 50 and 60.
Basically, you will start by updating your gear to i145. This can be done by buying equipment from npcs in Idyllshire, marketboards, crafting, or running the lv.59 dungeon until you get your loot. Once you're at the minimum ilevel, you can start earning tomes of Law and tomes of Esoterics from the lv.60 dungeons. You can also run PvP roulette for those as soon as you reach 60 if you're so inclined.
Buy Law and Esoterics and use the new lv.60 dungeon gear as needed. The 3.1 dungeons should become available once you're around ilv.170. This basically means a complete Law Set or better. You can also run Bismarck EX and Ravana EX at that point.
When you're about 175 or 180, you can run Void Ark and Alexander (normal) raids. It's generally better to be higher because people do mess up, but you can get by if you have a good group. Diadem also opens up for you at 180, but a partyfinder group is recommended for this.
Afterwards, when you're about 190 to 200, you can consider trying out KOTR and Alex Savage and that is your endgame.
In general, always prioritize your weapon. If you have problems surviving hits or with MP management, get armor. The VIT and PIE stats will fix those problems the fastest.

Make sure you get your cross class skills, ideally before you hit 40. Leveling them is like leveling your main class for their skills.
If going SCH:
Raise your Thaumaturge to 26 for Swiftcast. Probably the most important cross in the game, behind Protect maybe.
Raise your Conjurer to 34 for Stoneskin on top of all the skills below 15. It's situational but works well prepull.
For SMN (Which I'm guessing you're going) :
Again, level Thaumaturge to 26 for Swiftcast.
Raise Archer to at least 4 for Raging Strikes and later on to 34 for Hawk's Eye (100% accuracy) and Quelling Strikes (Reduced aggro gained).
Have fun :O
