Launcher issues

After downloading 3.1 yesterday and having no issues whatsoever, I've booted up my pc with my morning cuppa tea at hand, clicked the launcher icon on my desktop and I keep getting the error message 'A system error has occurred: -2146697208.' and it provides a link to a SE website.

I've typed the site into my browser and I get a message from SE stating that it doesn't exist. Browsing the forums I found a similar issue from 2013, http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t...-rc_lang-en-us and trying the methods used in that thread didn't work. I'm trying to avoid doing a complete uninstall/re-install and I've tried using the launcher in the FF14 folder, even opening as admin and it doesn't work.

Is there any other method I could try?

Hi Demyx significant other here just to give people a update, I have found that our "windows defender" is blocking access to "http://frontier.ffxiv.com/" a website that the launcher links to. I am currently working to see if I can white list this.
