Had enough
For 2 days now I have been trying to download the new patch and to no end will it download. I have tried near enough everything. Will list what I have tried. Not going to pay for a service I cant play as much as I love the game.
Currently I get the error message 'Unable to download patch files [30413] [20496]'. I have contacted customer support who gave me a long list of work around's to try. these to be precise.
Reboot router
- install to a different location on the HD
- clear out settings files for the game (rename or delete the FF XIV ARR folder in My Documents/My Games) as it does store temporary download files.
- run a HD scan on the harddrive that the game is being installed on, and the harddrive the My Documents folder is on.
- If all that doesn't work, a roundabout solution is to install the game to a different computer, fully update it, and then copy the installation files across to the computer you are playing on.
Now I have tried all of this apart from the very last one as I cannot do that or know anyone that would let me waste 20+ gb of there space and time.
I have tried the following.
Completely obliterating FF14 from my pc, removing it entirely off my pc 4 times then reinstalling it. still get the same error after 20gb has downloaded.
Tried moving it to a different folder.
deleting certain files.
tried all the anitvirus shut downs along with firewalls.
wiped net browsers and adjusted net security to none existence.
I have been on countless forums with the same issue and tried everything anyone suggested on their but no joy. I have stressed myself out tirelessly with this for so many hours that should have been spent relaxing and enjoying this game.
For now I will unsub until something is sorted out with this hell, I have read so many post of people quitting this game because of this issue alone. and these issues are going back years and there is still no fix :mad:

Are you on wireless or LAN? Do you have access to your modem to set yourself as the DMZ?
Also, I know you're fed up, but if you want actual tech support, I would change the title of your thread to something that includes the actual issue you are experiencing. Like, "Had enough - Patch will not download, gives errors" so that if someone from SE tech support is looking into these threads, they have an idea of what the issue is going to be about.
That's advice that applies in all situations for tech support. We know you're upset. We need to know why if you want us to fix it.

Unable to download patch files [30413] [20496] often indicates a problem with a firewall/access rights.
I had the same error message when trying to download with my firewall ports closed. Did anything happen that might of changed your IP or your firewall config?

Your ports are probably blocked on your router, remember, no matter how much security you tinker with on your pc there's also security on your router...

Yeah I must have spent 2 days trying my damn hardest to resolve this issue. Finally fixed btw :D the error codes do indicate that something is blocking the patch from downloading. the issue was the ports as you guys mentioned. after much tinkering I still could not get the ports, kinda useless as fiddling with that stuff so I went to next best thing seeing as my internet provider was clueless. Went round to a friends house with different internet provider and bingo it downloaded without any problems. real pain having to take whole computer round but worth it I guess.
Thank you guys for the replies. Lots of people have this damn issue yet no one has give them a proper answer to solve the issue that leaves them as frustrated as I was.
The issue is with your service provider and them blocking or restricting ports, mainly happens with Sky or Virgin internet providers within england. dunno about elsewhere but if you happen to come across this thread with the same problem as me then maybe this will help you.
