Need help with Pterodactyl

For Pterodactyl, people say it's from skyfishing at Diadem 14,14 with Giant Crane Fly, but I had trouble locating a spot which I can cast my rod...

Anyone able to help please?

Any special tricks to get it? :confused:

I found it! It's at 16, 14!
Needs lvl 53 class quest skill, and needs to mooch.

Small islands. My wife caught some at (13,23), west of where one of those axebeak things was prowling. It never aggro'd on her. She did not mooch, used a crane fly. May have had Snagging on, she thinks.

Cat Became Hungry has reports on the matter, citing (14,14), (13,23), and (16,18), and includes one report that the spots, like the MIN/BTN nodes, change location.

I also caught some with Red Balloons - did not have Snagging on.

13 23 in diadem normal mode, i use red balloon, but giant crane is working too. catch rate is around 1 ptero per 2 min, result for both lure is almost identical, oddly red balloon give me more steel spoil than giant crane.

wait you can mooch a fish into the ptero? what fish you are mooching?

oh yeah no snagging, i dont want blue cloud coral littering my chance to get ptero

(13,23) for me as well and used Red Balloon bug, I had snagging on as well. It's a straight big fish catch (no mooching needed). Also caught some other fish but 8 out of 17 were pterodactyls. Either was lucky with RNG or they aren't too difficult to fish up with that bait.

red balloon works best I have found - no snagging needed - did not see a significant difference in catch rates with snagging on or off for either pter or gems

Has anyone been able to fish for these on Easy? I've never fished up any of these before and thought I'd try today so I went Diadem (easy). I checked all the spots on this thread and the Cast icon never lit up for me. I was able to fish for water fish on the island with the crabs and cave... but I was never able to Skyfish at any spot. I do have Skyfishing/Cloudfishing unlocked as I completed the entire FSH story up to 60 and have caught cloudfish before. My gather/perc is 572/477 on FSH if that matters at all.

My only thought at this point is that maybe these holes aren't available on Easy mode? I dunno what else could be wrong.

EDIT - Found the spot.

Got loads at 33,13 today, along with some Gem Marimo. Great place to farm.
