Version Check fail
Hi
I never use to have an issue to update my FFXIV until today's patch.
When I log in and the launcher starts to do a version check the game pops up an error that it can't check the version.
I've tried running as admin, cleaning history on my pc and restarting everything.
I really don't want to reinstall as I have the steam version which means a huge download again.
Any ideas on how I can get this fixed? Or is it possible to get a manual patch?
I use Windows 8.1 Pro

Had the same thing, then it failed, so now there's an 18 gig patch on the launcher - says heavensward wasn't installed :(
Also 8.4 gig on steam, before I can start that, for I don't even know why.
550kb peak per second. See you in a few days.

Alright so after trying all the different methods of repairing it other than reinstalling or letting my steam check the local files (ie, admin mode, compatibility to previous windows, ect.) i decided to just turn my pc off and come back to it in a few hours.
I started the game again like I always do (but left the admin mode and compatibility to win 7 enabled) and now the boot, launcher and updater did their own proper update before starting the launcher and letting me log in.
I suppose it must have been me being in to much of a rush :)

I was having the same issue. It's a problem with the launcher not updating. My girlfriend's launcher updated, but mine did not. I got the version error after logging in, she did not.
I don't know if it was purely coincidence, but, as soon as I temporarily disabled my anti-virus software (Avast), the launcher was able to update itself.
For reference, the latest launcher version is 2015.11.05.0000.0001

Hmm...I use Avast and had no issues. May be your configuration.
My shortcut is set to always run as admin and I have exceptions for all the executables as well as running processes. That second part tends get overlooked sometimes. Avast added this extra list a while back and long-term users may not have stumbled on it yet.
