Hi,
I've started a trial and like what I see so plan on buying the game. Now I seem to be able to buy A Realm Reborn from steam from £10 then later upgrade to Heavensward for £30. Doesn't seem like there's any cost saving buying both.
Is there any reason not to just start with A Realm Reborn? That way if I don't like it that much I've only spent £10.
Unless you want to play the Au'Ra race, there is no reason to buy Heavensward right away.
Just in case you don't know. Realm Reborn main story quest needs to be completed to enter Heavansward main content. As mentioned above if you buy both all you'll get from the start is access to the new race and level 60 cap, and thats it. Ishgard is gated behind completion of all 2.0 main story quests. Its come up quite a bit that people didn't know, so just an FYI.
I would also suggest to simply get ARR first and play it and enjoy it. Once you've finished the main story, maybe unlocked all the dungeons/roulettes (which is A LOT if you are starting now) and THEN move on to heavensward. You can still change race and everything later on.
If you buy the game on Steam, remember that you need to buy the expansion on Steam as well. Don't accidentally buy the game in a retail store because the key you get won't work.
