Materia from airship explorations

Did they mention something regarding this? Is there gonna be another way to get materia or SB is the only way to do it?

You can already get materia via airship explorations, it's just that your FC will have to hand it out. Unless you mean via Diadem? If so, then it may be awarded from the loot chests but that's pure speculation right now.

Thought I saw someone post saying Materia was purchasable with a point system when turning in unwanted gear? Don't quote me on that though I don't remember which thread it was.

I remember the point system mentioned and that it would give materia, mats, and a few other things. I also remember that you win points by completing objectives or you can trade pieces into a special NPC. It was also mentioned the gear would be high iLvl and convertible into materia.

The info is scattered and not very specific but that's the just of The Diadem's information. Also Chests of different colors (Bronze, Silver, and Gold) would hold different items, gold holding the best loot.

I heard about turning in unwanted gear for other items but I didn't know Materia was included! :0

i saw it too, materia V beeing able to be obtained thorugh using the points in the airship exploration, that you get by trading in unwanted gear etc, i remember cuss it made me think that V materias were gonna be worth crap if the take a few points to get.

The gear from the Diadem chests will be i150, i180 & i210 by the look of it, which is possibly from bronze, silver & gold chests. These are Mistfall, Deepmist & Mistbreak.

Yes, this is in the preliminary patch notes.

On the other hand, a correctly configured airship, and a little RNG luck, and an airship can pull in 60+ grade IV materia in a single run.

You can exchange for materia V war/magic but only up to Materia IV for gathering and crafting :'(
