Story mode for wed characters?

Heya all ^^

I was thinking if it would be nice to be able to do anything, even all roulettes (but with 3.1 they will give I guess lvl 50, lvl 60 and expert for 2 people) with your significant other, or for those that aren't married, to have a friend to tag along?

The main story puts you into a single-mode of play..

We party up, do stuff, then comes the MSQ to do.. oops sorry love, we gotta split..

I guess it might need to much work to be done..

The MSQ don't take much effort as long as you use a little of your brain.

As I came to understand, the story is told how there is 1 hero that saves the day, you.
I have atleast played the game with that mindset. All the other players around me are 'just another adventurer', like some NPCs are.
That is my personal point of view anyways.

I see no part where the OP is saying its difficult, simply that they wish to play with their significant other (or perhaps a friend).

Perhaps it could be like in SW:TOR wherein the friend (partner in this case?) can assist in some of the fighting but is simply an observer in other situations?

I have nothing against it, as we all know alot of heroes have close friends that usually follow them on their adventures. Only problem then is that SE have to completely redo all the MSQ and add an additional version for when you play with others, to balance the difficulty, add more mobs etc. And cutscenes would have to be redone aswell. So I don't see this becoming reality in the near future.

I did not mean to imply you were against it, simply offer another situation wherein something similar has been done.
As I recall the cut-scenes with additional people in TOR did not actually feature said people but simply had the friend as an observer of the cut scene, though I can see the issue of having to create new instances for them to partake in combat as well.

Perhaps at least make it so that players are not forced to disband groups to do certain story or class quests? I've run into more than a few people in lower level dungeons who are missing key abilities for their class/job because they don't feel like leaving their friends to do the missions (Gladiator without Shield Lob in low level dungeons is not fun).

Isn't there a restriction on the eternal bond quest requiring level 50 anyway? So all the pre-50 story quests wouldn't really be any different. I don't see why they couldn't just allow two players to do the quests together - but altering cutscenes/conversations to include or acknowledge another player character would take too much effort.

They could always offer an additional side story that could be completed with your significant other. They could include cameo's from well known NPCs and require that both partners are at the same stage in the main storyline.

It's definitely a nice idea. It gets my vote.

Maybe not main story but I do wish there was side story for married couples.
