Skill V ilevel

I'm just bored and trying to get a decent thread going... I've been told while trying to cap eso in ex roulette that I heal better than people with better gear. I'm curious as to how much better? Does a better knowledge of my whm skills compare to healing a less efficient healer with better gear? Cool downs and CDs aside, would you rather have a knowledgable healer or an over geared healer?

You could have iLvl over 9000, and if all you do is spam cure 2, your team is gonna have a bad time. Underleveled/Undergeared largely just means there's less room for error on the part of the player. What that means is, a good player who makes few to no mistakes, can perform equally well to someone who has superior gear. Knowledgeable players will be able to take care of you better except in the most extreme cases of overgearing.

Skilled healer any day of the week. I healed the expert dungeons in minimum ilvl needed with a zeta. And I will take a healer than can manage that over someone that has all the shiny. Because even with all the shiny if they lack skill things can end bad.

This depends entirely on context.

ilvl 9000 following current stat trends at -level 60- means you can just Stone2 any boss to death because you'll be sitting pretty with about 60,000 hit points, well over 25,000 heals, matching damage hits, having close to no GCD, and critting on almost every hit with a for-all-intents-and-purposes-infinite MP pool. This means if you're just spamming Cure 2, you can heal up your party faster than the skilled i200 healer using Medica 2, medica, or cure 3.

The better your ilevel is, the more you DPS...

Because you know that you have a better healing potency and that you can accord to wait a bit to heal your tank with 2 spell instead of 3
Expert roulette before 3.07 with an AST is like spam benefic 1 & 2 to maintain the tank amive until no more mana XD
Now... Benefic 1 + aspected benefic... And you can cleric stance, play some poker with your card the tank is fine.

If fact the one who will heal correctly or better is the one who know the fight mechanics
=> no overheal, expected protection when needed, dispell on time, mana management

Skill always comes over gear, however, gear is still needed to a certant point for that skill to matter.You wont see no i160s doing good in alex savage, because regardless of skill, your gear just cant hold up to whats required.


Id easily take a skilled i180 healer over a novice i200 healer tho.

Plus... We can see more and more players with i200 stuff and doing so so so so bad...
because farming eso doesn't require skill

Sometimes I would imagine ppl perceive things incorrectly as well. Ex: player A keeps everyone at full, player B knows the HoT has enough time to handle a situation. Their chance of dieing may not be different, but they might look at player A as better because they were topped off more.

I don't wanna underestimate someone's ability to be terrible at something, but in ex roulette, what's so hard about:

Cleric Stance
Spam holy
Forget benediction is on cool down
Panic
Drop Ceric stance
Tetra
Cure II
Regen
Tell the tank not to worry and that you had it all under control.

It also depends on someone's definition of a "good healer." In Ex Roulette content your healer should be able to be in Cleric Stance more often then not, by my definition. Tanks that don't mitigate damage well with CDs or Pull excessive mobs with a low AOE dps party are an exception (Think Pally pulling 10 mobs with 2 ninjas ;_;.) Its just a waste to have so many nice AOE/DPS skills as a healer and not use them to their fullest! D:

If you can keep your party alive and do the best DPS you can do, you're being a great Expert roulette healer. :3

Gotta throw in Medica II and Asylum because we are talking about DF here and not every tank likes to use CDs.

Also Assize as a closer to return some MP from the last holy while also dealing damage(because party wont need the heals anyway(they shouldnt), so use this in cleric)
