Chocobo Knight
So we and a FC member were talking about chocobos and he had mention how he would love to bring it to dugeons and raids. Than I thought why not make a job out of the idea. let's have chocobo knight the job will have certain skills only available when mounted. In the past ff games chocobo knights were heavy armored jobs on a mounted bird so making it into a tank would seem like a good idea. They will have skills like choco meteor(shield lob) and choco cure(self heal). Now that would be a tank I will play. Wat u think.

So many questions.
Would chocobo knights get the same increased movement speed as mounts?
How does your chocobo's rank and chocobo raising contribute to the power of the class?
Would you lose a party member while tanking as a chocobo Knight?
What's the difference between mounted and unmounted in terms of skills?
Why would you ever dismount?
Does the mount disappear, or is it a pet/partymember like the chocobo companion?
What happens if you have a chocobo knight and a chocobo companion out at the same time?
What possible exploits might players do with the added mount?

If it's a tank, could be like +Enmity stance auto mounts your bird whereas +DPS stance keeps you on foot. Don't think the companion level should affect the job because otherwise people would only accept Knights with a max bird. What kind of weapon would they have though? Lances are being used by DRG.

I want to see someone animate an entire dungeon like sastasha with 4 birds. 1 Healer, 1 Tank, 1 Melee DPS, and 1 Ranged DPS. Have them fighting the mobs giving cute confused expressions and of course the chocobo victory dance at the end. stuff like the chocohealer getting aggravted when the meleechoco gets paralyzed repeatedly from not dodging aoes. xD

Yea was thinking it as a tank stance wen u mount the bird and wen u on foot just regular DPS. The weapon I don't know wat would be the weapon of choice was thinking a javelin but dragoons already have. Basically everything will just stay the same all u do is mount the bird when u tanking.

The aesthetics of having your character become twice as big when tanking or switching stances aside, I just can't see cavalry being more defense-oriented than infantry.
Cavalry are closer to DPS in terms of the role they play in armies. They attack front the flank or back. Attacking from the front is a great way to lose your horse or get impaled by a spear (assuming you're fighting against an equal). The horse is really vulnerable and there's no way you can carry a shield to protect them all the time (imagine trying to lift a shield large enough to block arrows like in 300 or forming a tortoise shell formation of shields like in Gladiator while mounted). Instead, cavalry outruns any enemies that chases them and then runs back in to attack from the flank or rear.
If anything, the chocobo should be out for DPS and gone for tanking. it is a personal preference though.
