"Emotes" getting eaten. Whats up?

I roleplay a good bit, and I notice that 15% of my "emotes" just don't show up for anyone else. This happens to other people as well.

This doesn't happen in any other game, just FFXIV. Is this some kind of bug?

Maybe spam filter.

I got a fc mate that spams /surprised a lot. Like, 20 times in a row because of the "waaa" it makes for lalas.

It's annoying and I love when they're eaten.

Idk if you're one of those RPers I had the displeasure of meeting from EQ2 that put *everything* in /em, but if you are, maybe that's why? Going with the filter theory.

It happens to a lot of people though, and its not emotes. Its long and lengthy posts.

I've not had long and lengthy anything munched that wasn't an /em statement.

If you try to use the same emote again if it gets lost it also won't show.

It shows up for YOU but nobody else.
