Is this server sealed off for good?

Can't make a character on this server, even at 5 in the morning. I guess the good news is RMT can't make bots either.

Seems like it. My issue lately has been the Lodestone lying about it being open. It's been saying yes all day but I keep trying to no avail. I also subscribed to an email notification service that would tell you when a server is open too. I think it draws from Lodstone though because they both say Balmung is open but it's not. I've been trying all day.

I wish that instead of counting characters, like it seems they do, they would count the number of ACCOUNTS on the server. Balmung is a very popular RP server and many people like to have alts, one for each character. So the server is bogged down with RP alts that are not able to be on at the same time ever. (You can't dual box, I've tried). So the system sees say 10k characters not realising there are only 5k players on the server (for example). This leads to them trying to stem congestion that doesn't exist and makes it very hard to make something like refer a friend a thing Balmung players can realistically take advantage of.

Only time you can likely ever make an alt on Balmung is right after a maintenance, otherwise pray you get lucky when/if there's hardly anyone online (which is extremely rare). Good luck! :p

I did transfer just recently to Balmung. Guess I was lucky.

Transfers work fine, even when you cannot create new characters on the server.

Yeah. This is a real problem. As it stands, I'm tempted to just play with my friend on like... Jenova or something. 'cause Balmung is just royally fucked for making characters on.

It's just a matter of giving the system a reason to lift the ban. I would love to make another character on Balmung so I can have fun playing. It's what I paid for, but am being denied the service I require.

On second thought, I'm convinced it's a perma-lock. There's no way it could have overcrowded within a minute of the servers coming up, FFXIV Fun Factor = Fading.

For those checking the Lodestone for updates as to when servers like Balmung are open, I remember researching this when the restrictions first took place. The lodestone updates periodically on a set schedule (I forget exactly but I can update this post once I find out again), however the restrictions are dynamic and change as load on the server change. This is why immediately after maintenance (not new content patches) is nearly guaranteed.

If the lodestone is updated and shows Balmung is open, you likely have very little tike before that status may change again as the lodestone post may be outdated rather quickly.

In short, the lodestone updates are NOT live and the restrictions are based on server load, not character count. Best bets are after scheduled maintenance (without subsequent content patches) or transferring in from another server.

I transferred here from Midgardsormr fairly easily. But as I just read above transferring is not a problem. Creating alts or new characters is.
