Summoner newbie and comapring black mage to summoner

So I have a black mage at 55 and because of my scholar i have a 51 summoner. Now lets dive in. I would like to know the optimal rotation as well as tips on how to maximize damage on pets and dots. any tips are good. I have read guides to get the jist of summoner. I have a basic idea but for some reason after playing black mage it feels very awkward to play. Lastly, which do you prefer personally and in a party? I know this topic might be all over the place but I'm just getting out of exams and my brain is well yea.. :)
