I have a weird issue I've never seen before and just am wondering if it's normal or something else. The way my system is set up is I have 2 hot bars that I can cycle with R1 between, there's 1 and 6. Not sure why I skipped the others but that's how it's always been for me. Hotbar 2 is the one that shows with the expanded hold controls, so holding L2 and R2 together.
Hotbar 6 I rarely use, it just has things like journal on it, limit break, sprint, chocobo etc. So if I'm on hotbar 1 the main one and I press R1 it goes to hotbar 6 as expected. If I use sprint, or any action there like chocobo, it triggers as expected and stays there. I then have to press R1 again to go back to hotbar 1.
I put Diurnal Sect and Nocturnal Sect from AST on hotbar 6 instead, as I am trying to work out the best layout since AST uses more commands than WHM. When I press R1 and switch to hotbar 6 and turn on Diurnal or Nocturnal, it does, but then instantly flips back to hotbar 1. If I press R1 to go back to 6, and then turn off the sect, it stays there. If I turn it on again, or the other one, it turns on and instantly flips back to 1.
This is sort of ideal, but it's tripping me up in dungeons because sometimes I press R1, hit the sect and then without looking press R1 again thinking I'm flipping back to hotbar 1 (the way I would if I was popping sprint during a battle), when meanwhile it already went back on me and now I'm triggering other things. I don't see any mention of this anywhere, is this normal and how do you know what actions will flip it back vs others? And how does it know where to flip it back to?
Is this a bug with the PS4 cross hot bar or is this normal?

It's really strange. I try to keep everything on the one main hotbar, then use the expanded hold ones for everything else, as cycling between actual ones is too hard since you sometimes think you're on one and not the other and so on. Just with AST because there's more actions I think, or at least ones I want up front compared to WHM, I'm trying to make my hotbars work. So thought I'd stick the secs on the second bar since I don't typically flip between them. Sometimes for fun will Noc, swiftcast AH, back to Diurnal for the fight, but still easy to do on the second bar. Just tripping me up because I hit R1, hit Nocturnal and instinctively hit R1 again to go back to hotbar 1 meanwhile it already had me on it and now I'm back on 6!

you also can set which crossbar is hidden or available while with/without drawing weapon.

I think that might be what it is actually! I removed them as I don't need them there now, but I do have that enabled but I don't use it. A year or so ago I had tried it out but didn't like it so right now I have it set to enable auto hotbar switching when drawing/sheathing weapon, but then I have under weapon sheathed show hotbar 1 and 6, and then under when weapon is drawn I have the same thing 1 and 6. There was a reason for doing it this way but can't remember for the life of me what it was, I just know I was having some issue and online the way to fix it was to enable that and put the same options under both, not sure why now though so have always had it like that. So that makes sense as I guess the other actions on the second hotbar aren't causing the weapon to be drawn and therefore aren't flipping it back to 1! Thanks!
