I think 3 healers is enough. SE adding more would just be clutter.
Inb4 SE introduces a way for scholars to queue Eos for the healer role and themselves as a DPS.
On a more serious note, I'm still missing healing zones. Thought ASTs would get something like that, but nope. It's a shame because it'd look awesome and could probably be an interesting addition to the base healing toolkit.
Healing zones? What do you mean?
Like Asylum or something maybe? :/
And to OP, I would tolerate one more healing job in Dancer (buff buddy) or something like that, and even that is a big stretch. In current meta SCH is a must and we WHMs and ASTs have to share (which makes me a little mad to be honest xD)
Yes, sort of like Asylum but less situational and with chunky ticks that drain your MP over time as long as you keep the field up and a more circular, "aether coming out of the ground"-type look. Think of it like an Eos that you set and forget while you do other stuff. I dunno, maybe it wouldn't work in FFXIV but I've just really liked the concept ever since the Tales series games started using them on their healers.
If the op asked it a sense, would it be better to level all healer roles, or to level various roles, I say at least level one damage roles. Debends of your play style of course. For me the reasoning is fc runs. Our fc has rather lot of healers and having also other job roles to bring on the table it's easier to fit into fc runs.
Of course, you can always level Scholar to get summoner on the side but even then I recommend running some stuff during the leveling as summoner too to learn the role on the go.
Agreed. Being able to fill at least two roles greatly increases your chances of being able to help/come along for runs with FCs, linkshells and whatnot. If one is comfortable with healing, it's no big stretch to switch to a caster DPS job since the basics are the same, you're just targeting enemies instead. Like Sida says SCH has the added benefit of levelling SMN for you, though SMN does take some getting used to to play optimally.
Once you have a healer you're good to heal any instance but it's good to try other healer roles to see which one you're more comfortable with in healing. Nevertheless, I suggest doing another role such as DPS or Tank to gain a different flavour from the game.
I have all 3 healer classes at 60 because I think it's good to mix things up a bit and experiment with different techniques. I'm a SCH main so that is the one I'm comfortable with and use the most. If I'm feeling a bit lazy though and want to play safe, I'll go on my WHM. If I want to have a bit of fun, I'll go as AST.
They're all really fun classes though and are all uniquely different. I don't find it to be more useful to have all of them levelled, but it is nice to have the cross-class abilities on them like protect, cleric stance, stoneskin, eye for an eye and virus. So if anything, that is the one thing I would suggest levelling them for.
