Into The Dark

Hello, too make this short, I did the into the dark quest with the ogre for a while before I quit...and came back for 1.19. Although I never beat the orge before, for various reasons...it seems to me its even harder now, even when I play with very experienced players who have beaten it countless times before. In fact we cannot beat the ogre, even with those who easily kill baatel (if thats how you spell him).

I know as a tank, its near impossible to kill him after he has 1/4th hp...and failing alot after 1/2 hp.

I admit though, I am no elite player, still it seems alot harder then it was in the past. I know some of that has to do with the new auto shield, which seems like garbage compared to what it once was. I'm taking alot more damage then I did before...and I have new gear (cobalt red from head to toe).
Hate is no problem, living is.

Normally the aimed party is what it was before. Glad, Conjx2-3, archerx2-3, pug/mrd. Is it different now? Mind telling me (nicely) what I am doing wrong?
Or is everyone now experiencing this?

I am deeply worried I wont beat it in time for the foundation day event, where my seals will double. Thank you for your time.

One thing that comes to mind: do you have materia?

No not yet. But should that matter to the point of not beating it? Although materia is nice, it shouldn't make the difference between not beating an event that existed before the patch where materia was introduced. With the lack of physical levels and the new gear, my stats are better then what they were before. Yet I'm dying quicker.

I'm not the only one with this issue. Its become a common knowledge that its nearly impossible to beat now...by many others, those with materia and those without it.

It kind of does, because all your stats are different. Even though the monsters themselves have not been adjusted, you and your party members have been.

They have been rebalanced with materia in mind. Better get to melding.

Well AFAIK JP has already killed Bartraal post patch yesterday or the day before, so it's not impossible. I haven't returned there yet, but from what I gathered the problem was the Ghost hitting tank for a lot more than before is it?

thats what many are saying, and I think its true. However I notice again at about 1/2 to 1/4th...is when the ogre starts really pounding and its death for the tank unless hes near full health. That ontop of the ghost= death for the tank, which means death for everyone else. I might get a quick raise but theres no way to regain hate fast enough for me to save my party.

My LS actually got to Batraal. The key to beating the Ogre this time is positioning. The ghosts are what is hitting you for lots more damage, so if you find that position pattern, you'll be able to beat him. Just avoid the ghosts. ^^
