Allag and Norse Mythology

I have noticed that The Allagins, directly or not seem connected with beings named after Norse figures

• World of Darkness: As some of you are aware, Xande made a pact with the Cloud of Darkness and as a result you go into the World of darkness, the first set of trash mobs are named Thor and Jourmungand, archenemies and notable for killing each other (course Thor is more notable for other things). On the topic of Thor, a notable NPC in the CT subplot is Nero tol Schvela who wields a gun-hammer named Mjornir
• The Coils, The part of Dalamud that consists the first Coil is an airship dubbed "Ragnarok" Thor and Jormungand's deaths, part of the events there
• The Laevaetainn, probably the most tenuous, but you do get the items needed to upgrade it form both the Coils and the Tower, both related to one another and both of Allagin origin
• Odin...Admit it, this dude was the first thing that came to mind when you read the title. Explicitly an Allagin knight, The Dark Divinity, wields various attacks named Einherjar, and Gungnir. And the armor from the mantle are also named in Norse, he rises a Horse named Slepnir.
• Niddhogg, Ratatoskr, Hraesvelgr and Midgarsomnir. The of the First Brood and their father. Not so related to Allag at first glance but their connection lied in their sibling (or in Middy's case, son) Bahamut. Evidently the names sakes of the first three are all connected back to Ragnarok

Now it's all likely coincidence but it is interesting to see that the Norse Myhes are incoperated as somehow related to Allag. What do you think?

Much of what you listed is pulled from general Final Fantasy elements, which in turn are pulled from various mythologies.

THough to be honest, the Allag give me a "modern day" feel. their museum showcases how automation was invented to make life easier, which is what we strive to do in the tech industry. They built laboratories to experiment on living subjects; something we do too. The speech (in English) is modern compared to the Shakespearean like speech used by most npcs in Eorzea.

It is rather evedent that they are more futuristic compared to Eorzea, but well Crystal Spires (literally in Allag's case) and Togas seems to be the standard depiction of utopia nowadays

I personally don't think there's a strong connection, it's mostly just a big coincidence or a shout-out to previous titles.

-The entire Crystal Tower raid, enemies and all, are a big shout-out to Final Fantasy III. Everything in there except Atomos was from III. Everything. Even Jormungand, who was (you guessed it) a random encounter in the World of Darkness. Same for Thor.
-Nero's weapon is a shout-out to Norse mythology, but aside from that and the fact that Garlean magitek is reverse-engineered from Allagan tech there's no connection between the two.
-Ragnarok is a common late-game sword in the franchise. However, this game's Ragnarok is more likely than not referencing the Ragnarok spaceship from VIII, that game's stand-in for an airship.
-Laevaetainn is, like the Ragnarok, a previously-appearing weapon from the franchise. I wouldn't really say that has anything to do with Norse mythology, as the Laevaetainn is a Gerolt Masterwork weapon; those weapons have varied mythical inspirations, from Arondight's Arthurian origin to the Laevatainn's Norse origin to most of them being original creations.
-Odin is, yes, a very Norse myth-heavy character, especially in XIV where he has attacks past Gungir based on Norse myth. However it should be remembered that XIV Odin opposed the Allagans, so there's no connection between the name themes of the two.
-While Midgardsormr and the First Brood do seem to have a connection to Norse myth, Bahamut and Tiamat are outliers, being based on Mesopotamian / Arabian myth. However, their Final Fantasy incarnations are more based on their appearance in Dungeons and Dragons; XIV's versions are unique in that they're not, but they're still different from the rest of the major dragon characters we've seen, who do have Norse myth-inspired names. Given the other dragons don't have a strong connection to Allag (that we know of)...

... I personally don't think Allag has a heavy Norse myth inspiration. They seem to be more based on standard futuristic sci-fi stuff, but meaner than usual.

Is not allag inspired more on a mixt of ancient Rome/Egypt ?

It's not surprising when EVERYHTING is explained by using the wild card; Allagans.

Crystal Tower... Allagan.
Eikon killing weapon aka Ultima... Allagan.
Hidden sky islands... Allagan.
Bismarck backstory (if you think about it)... Allagan.
Dalamud/Bahamaut... Allagan.
Tomestones... Allagan.

Not enough housing plots... Server Limitation because of Allagan Empire.

I dont know why I have not added this before, I thought it was not necesary. The allagan empire is more inspised in Rome and Egypt beacuse:

1. The allagans have a liitle tips of both mix, romans and egypts.
2 . Both are nations that lasted more long than anyone orther ( im saing nation and not empire beacuse Rome, was a monarchy, republic and empire )
3. It was said that this nations were really advanced in technologie, culture and knowledge. ( When the roman empire fall, the progress of civilisation had a stop, it didnt recover until the times of the Renaissance. On between it was the middle ages ). On case of the allagans, it was worse. Their fall send us back to stone age LOL.
4. The roman empire was the largest empire that ever existed. Well allags have the hole world.

Good points, There are also some hints of Mayan/Aztec Architecture in The Sycrus Tower as well. Seems to be lots of references to Super Advanced Civilizations in Allage.

And Like Garlemald, Nazi Germany also tried to emulate the "Super Ancients" as a way to make them selves more powerful and respected. (How ravaging no less than 30 countries and stealing thousands of art pieces and artifacts was suppose to "Make them perfect" I'll never know.)

They weren't always a modern society, however, and there are some remnants of their primitive past scattered about Eorzea.
