So I just picked up the first mining quest. I read the whole quide and i understand that I have to activate Prospect and then there are supposed to be little pickaxes showing up on the little map showing were deposits are. I did that and nothing happens, I have been walking around central thanalan, especially around the gate where the spineless basin is and there is nothing. Nothing shows up for me. Am I missing something? It is really frustrating me!
for level 1 miner go out by the gate of nald of central thanalan. walk down the path and the rocks to the left should have a yellow pick axe for you. when you get to lvl 3. you will have a ability called lay of the land. what that does is shows you the direction of the closest one. (if you have none in range on the mini map you see).

Basic stuff: The maps show up if Prospect is active. There should be a little map showing on your buff bar. It activate automatically but can be turned off. Have your Mini-mapped zoomed all the way out; note that the markers do not show up on the main map.
Nodes can be tough to find them with just Prospect. At level 3 you get "Lay of the Land," it will show you the way on the mini-map for the duration of its effect.
