Class-specific and job-specific mechanics

One thing I've been thinking about recently regarding the future of the game was the ways in which the devs are planning to make classes more unique. One thing I think XIV and in the past XI have lacked are mechanics made specifically for the jobs involved.

In the case of XIV, the basics are that all melee auto attack and then use various fairly similar WS with their TP. All mages just burn through mana and pop fairly similar spells at this point. When you compare this to other games it seems like a pretty dull system, and not really something that'll make each job feel special.

So the point of the thread is, if specific mechanics were added to each class that could only be used with them, what would you like to have?

Some simple ideas I thought of that really aren't that special, but give a vague idea were:

- Thaumaturge could have some kind of meter, and when they casted an umbral spell it could move towards the astral end and vice versa. The result being that as you cast more of your scourges you might build up the bar to a point where you unlock a temporary powerful astral spell or heal to blast the enemy with etc (Banishga or Holy or something?).

- Gladiators could get those stances we were told about ages ago, perhaps they could be freely switched from and unlock some new skills to react to the situation. Sort of like XIII's paradigms really, an off-tank might be able to switch between a stance that relaxes the shield and focusses on sword arts, and the reverse does the opposite, giving new shield skills etc. (This one's pretty boring admittedly, but hey, it's not like I'm getting paid :P)

These aren't particularly ground breaking, but I was interested to see whether others would like to see this as a method of introducing uniqueness, as opposed to basically just cutting off some skills from other classes using them.
