Tips for a new player?

Well sort of new. I bought the game back in February and just resubbed a couple of days ago. Any and all tips/help would be greatly appreciated. I'm a very experienced MMO player, and have quite a few under my belt at the end game level. I heard that I should hold off on buying the expansion until completing some questline for example.

Also my character is currently level 33 if that makes a difference in any help given.

Before getting to level 50 there are no merits for you to get the expansion except for playing the new race added with it. The most enjoyable thing about FFXIV is levelling so I suggest that you don't try to overpower lvling yourself.

It might be a good idea to level up two classes concurrently as you will receive enough EXP to do so and get them both to level 50 with only minor grind. Attempt all contents once they're unlocked since going back to them when you're over levelled might not offer the same experience.

Quality of life is nice but if you want to level quickly stick with one job to fifty, if you plan to play this long term I would even think about getting the expansion cause once your 50 and start running main story to get to ishgard you'll be 52 I believe from what others have said here.

Imo I think if you like to level quick getting to 60 asap for the armory bonus is a must have, literally cuts leveling time in half. Gets monotonous but it's not completely boring if you find a good group to talk with

How do I level two classes concurrently?

You can switch your main weapon at any time, for example if you switch out your daggers to, say... a book (if you unlocked Arcanist), you will start leveling your arcanist instead of your ninja/rogue. It has its own levels/stats.

You can level by redoing dungeons, levequests, FATEs, any sidequests you haven't done yet...don't forget your challenge log and hunting log.

This game basically allow you to have every single class/job on a single character.
You will need other classes for cross class abilities and such as well.
Nice thing is if you ever decide to level scholar and summoner, the classes are shared so it is like levelling 2 classes at once.
Like i levelled my scholar from 50 to 60 and have never had to heal once, lol
Expansion is still a bit away for you as you need the 2.0 Main Storyline completed before getting access to the expansion.
Like Aska mentionned hunt and challenge log, you can run fates and leves and also may not seem like much but food that provides experience boosts.

While many players do want to get to 60 quickly for other reasons, it has nothing to do with the armoury bonus. The only requirement for getting the full armory bonus is to have another combat class higher than your current one. It makes no difference how much higher. So, basically you're guaranteed to have it always available on all but one of your combat classes, regardless of whether you level one up first and then the others, or level them all up together by alternating evenly among them.

What is this Armoury bonus. And for now ill think I will focus on one class. Maybe try tanking later if its not to difficult with a controller

Are you on PS4 or just use a controller on PC? This game works fine in either case :)
