so when i started the xpac my choco was at rank 6. seems like i really dont get the oppurtunity to pull him out all that much. id like to do some grinding with him. where in HW is a good place to grind out some exp at lvl 55 and below? or should i wait till 60?
only reason i ask is because i have to grind out 1.7m exp to get to level 56 and will continue to grind out exp each level because i am not doing side quests. so that leaves me with hunts, fates and dungeons.
Your best bet would be doing the weekly Companion Challenge Log entries for the EXP it gives. Aside from that, there's no really good way to farm EXP for them as far as I'm aware.
Challenge Log bonuses are the best option.
After that, farm FATEs that are at your level.
I just pull out my chocobro when doing daily hunts for centurio seals.
Challenge log is great exp as others mentioned. At rank 7-8 it is starting to get worth it to use stables too, gained experience increases with rank. Otherwise just use your chocobo everywhere possible.
Put him in your FC stable and feed it hourly if your not using it, or leave it in there in case you have ppl who mass feed all the chocos in the stable, like ppl in my FC do. Not sure why they do, but they do so yay for that.
Exp is minimal but as a legacy player with all jobs but acn at 50 at relaunch I really only was able to lvl mine minimally and via fate grinding for relics (granted I did 6, 3 before the atma drop nerf) but that stable feeding as gotten me a good 10 levels on him. He's sitting at 15 now and since he hit 15 a week or so ago he's about 1/3 the way to 16 thru hourly feedings alone. So it makes a difference.

OT: I pretty much just do leve quests and fates and such with my choco out. I've managed to get him to rank 6 so far, and as long as you just take your time and enjoy it and put him away when its not fun at the moment it really doesn't feel like a grind.
