Am I doing it wrong?
Forgive me for being green but I'm just wondering if I'm missing something. When I started playing this game I followed the main story line quest, moved from area to area doing the side-quests around the main quest and really enjoyed it. I haven't finished my main quest but my first job hit 50 and I decided to raise a second before finishing it. Problem is the side-quests in most areas are done and all I can seem to find to raise others jobs is grinding fates and daily dungeons. Am I missing something? Thanks in advance! :)

As long as you're having fun you're not doing anything wrong. Though yeah you exhausted one of your options to level up. You can also try your hunt logs.

Sidequests are a 1 time thing, as are hunt logs. You still have FATES, Levequests, dungeons and the weekly challenges for renewable sources of exp.
-
There's really no right or wrong way to level. If you ran out of quests as you said though, all there is left are guild hests, leves, dungeons and FATEs. Questing seems to be your main thing, but if they're all done for the previous levels, that's pretty much it. >_>

If you've exhausted your side quests with your main, job then you can do the following to gain experience for new jobs:
-Daily Leveling Roulette
-Daily Guildhest Roulette
-FATEs
-Level-appropriate dungeons
-Levequests
-Hunting logs
Have you unlocked the Challenge log? If not, you can head over to Limsa Lominsa Upper Decks and take the quest "Rising to the Challenge". Your challenge logs resets weekly and it's a great way to earn bonus experience by doing what you're already doing. Don't forget exp food and such. It's small, but it can add up and it's dirt cheap, so why not? There's really no "wrong" way to level up. Just do whatever you're having the most fun with, and vary things up a bit so you don't burn out. If you want to level the most efficiently, just never sit around. Like, if you're DPS and waiting for a queue, it's a good idea to do levequests or FATEs or your hunting log while you're waiting to get inside a dungeon.

I recommend dungeons. They're a good way to get practice with a job/role as you level.
FATE leveling is great, especially if you're a dps with a slow queue, but it doesn't really teach you how to play your job for the most important situations.
-
Do the dungeons (latest unlocked at your current lvl) so that you're motivated to excel at your class/role. Don't just grind FATEs and LQ. You might also be able to get pink gear from the dungeons as well.

Wow, thanks all for the super quick responses :) There are quite a few suggestions I've not started on yet so sounds good, thanks again!

Armoury Bonus is another thing to keep in mind, when you level additional jobs from 1-50 you'll receive 100% more xp then from 51-60 it's 50% I believe.
So basically even if you ran out of quest and such to level your other jobs, doing things like FATE and leves offer double the xp you would normall get from your first job, aka a leve giving you 5k would now be 10k and FATEs that grant 20k would now be 40k for completing them on any job that isn't your highest job.

The trick is to level 2 or more jobs right from start lol
I had 2 50s 1 49 in 2.0 before finishing the story and now 2 60s and 1 59 before finishing Hevanesward story. The trick is to have friends to level along or to have someone or something to wait for so you have loaaaaads time to fill lol.
But seriously I tend to level with
- Duty Roulettes (mostly leveling, guildhest, trials)
- Challenge Log (FATE challenges, giving commendations, running roulettes)
- FATEs occasionally to finish a level or to fill some DF waittime only (the real grind would cost my mind)
- Run current dungeon 1-3 times for gear upgrades and to test new skills
- Till level 42 or so hunting log is also worth to be done
Currently I do my dark knight casually (if you can call it that way) and make about 1/4 to 1/2 level in 50+ per day.
And I really mean it find someone that levels a job with you even if he/she is like 5 level difference to you the company and fun is definitely worth it ^^
