Perception not working for appraisal...

I have gone from 585 to 630 Perception and I still get a base 115 appraisal from Methodical Appraisal. Is it capped at 115? What's the point of getting more perception if it's not showing signs of improvement with gathering?

Anyone else notice this or have noticed an increase at a certain perception?

Soon as I get back to my desktop at home I want to try something. Unequip all my perception gear as much as possible and try gathering at like 100vs600 perception. If it's the same then ya idk

Capped. /10 chars.

The only benefit for increased stats for Miner/Botanist is collecting from the legendary nodes (primarily 'Gathering').

there is a ceiling and a floor on perception for appraisals; the floor for methodical seems to be 80, but I haven't tested this with oh, say, 0 perception... but I noticed it stopped decreasing as I incrementally lowered from 450 perception -> 300 perception on level 56 items. the ceiling is indeed 115 for methodical appraisals and the amount of perception required is based on the item level.

So an HQ set of the 150's unmelded is all you need for red scrip gathering?

correct, unless you *really* want to cap out your appraisals on 1-star items... in which case either upgrading your tool or your off-hand will get you to the 690-700 perception or so required to cap on 1-star folklore items, or want a better chance at the level 60 items (adamantite ore and chysahl greens cap out at around 610-620, so a slightly bit of melding may be required)
