So, I kinda assume this has been brought up before.
While I'm in not NEED of gil, I don't have enough to purchase a full HQ right side/belt for my MIN.
So, would people recommend that I use favors, and sell the mats and purchase the pieces or invest in the i180 set/weapon. Would selling the mats now be best and then work on the i180 set after I obtained the rest of the gear? I have enough stats to mine the red scripts, and it doesnt seem that the i180 set is needed for anything in particular.
As with any rare/limited item, selling them early will likely get you more than waiting and selling them later (as time goes on, more people will be able to get them and fewer people will still need them.) So if you're planning on gearing up by selling favor mats and buying i170 gear, starting with the favor mats might be a good idea.
That said, there's a risk involved in doing that. We don't know what will be coming in 3.1 or what the stat requirements will be. If you want to be sure that you'll be ahead of the curve for new stuff, you might want to go for the i180 gear first since that gear (especially the MH) will make the most difference to your stats.
