Cannot Patch Game -- Launcher gets 20524 error

Please help! Every time I run the launcher, I always get this 20524 error message. It doesn't download the patch, it just goes to the error message and quits.

I have tried the following:
1) Downloaded the patch and placed it in the correct patch folder under "My Games"

2) Changed the game.ver file to have the current game version. I also updated the boot.ver file to have the same version #

3) Changed the port setting to "Do Not Use"

4) Reinstalled the complete game -- and this won't even download any of the patches -- which leads to my question of how can any new player who bought the game play if even a fresh reinstall does not patch correctly?

Anyone have any ideas of how I can get this to work?

I'mgetting this same error too. I get the error when the patch starts to install. an answer would be helpful.

changing the game.ver date to 2011.10.07.0000 fixed that error for me
