The tendancy to cry NERF!

Disclaimer: This is my opinion, take it for what it's worth.

Why is it that every time there is a major patch, these forums get chocked full of players crying NERF, usually within hours, sometimes even before the patch?

MMOs being the persistent yet frequently changing beasts that they are, change. They change quite often. Especially when one is released in the state that this one was. We all knew that was going to happen, we all know what we were in for when we signed up, especially if you were part of the beta as I was or if you pay any attention at all to reviews.

Why is it that folks cry foul before actually looking for alternatives to the old ways of doing things?

I guess what I wanted to say is this: This game is in a state massive flux, get used to it or leave and come back when things are more stable if you can't handle the inevitable paradigm shifts.

Sound and logical observation. Maybe in a few months to a year something like this will have a place in these forums. But now...no, unfortunately it does not. Ironically the situation that is required for people to appreciate this will bring with it the the lack of necessity to bring this subject to light because the issue will have been eliminated. So while the post is informative and well thought out...there isn't really a point. I apologize.

I've been around since Alpha, and can honestly say, as discouraged as I was getting (reason for me not being 50) after each patch, specially the recent 1.19 I am loving the game more and more. I can understand some crying, but some of it is so unfounded its just seems people like to cry. Have the entitlement to feel entitled to crying for a game they have been playing for free for a year. I often hear "I paid for this game, therefore I am entitled to cry". Considering I spent 70$ for the collectors edition, I feel even though I have not spent every waking moment on FFXIV that I have gotten my money worth and then some. Keep up the good work SE!

Every MMO I have played is the same. I think people are just voicing their concerns and there is nothing wrong with that. Developers make the final decisions on the direction of the game. Some decisions hinder the game and player base and some make it better. It is pretty hard to find a perfect balance where everyone is happy. Developers can overlook things at times or maybe that is their intention for how the game works. Players then decide if that is a feature that is game breaking and leave or it is tolerable and continue playing.

lol everyone thinks gladiator has been nerfed.

erm how bout wacking some materia into your gear, proper materia, thats useful to gladiator such as...oh i dont know how bout,

parry,
vitality,
dexterity,
evasion
strength

you know, useful stuff, then go out and try gladiator again, then come on the forums and publicly retract your statements of nerf
