A letter to the Devs,
Something is seriously WRONG when...
You have more friend requests from RMT than actual players.
Full wards are completely devoid of occupants and thy neighbor is completely unknown.
No consumption.
So lets fix these things with suggested solutions.
--:: Community ::--
-The daily system is great. If possible, add an option to only match within the home server of the player. This will allow the mixing of the direct community based on the person's desire to Queue fast, or queue socially within their home server.
-The Housing system is definitely impacted but ironically most wards are devoid of occupants. So you're going to fix the housing shortage, okay awesome. Now lets address why they are devoid of occupants. If possible, please add NPC "player avatars" onto the retainer system. How this would work is the player's avatar npc will directly spawn when the player logs off. These avatars will inhabit the home ward of the player's FC and directly visually impact the zone.
Side note:
Maybe players can befriend the NPC avatars, marry them etc. Some kind of Sims like relationship with decay meters, etc.
-Also, let's add some home server drama to reinforce visual representation. (There are alot of dead lands in many of the zones, how about you add nothing but vanity to that.)
An event of some kind, maybe PVP to which the rewards involve the FC house spawning in the relative town or farming plot. Again, vanity.
Note: A survey came out recently that clearly documented actual statistics from WOW as to why people are leaving in droves. The findings were that "It's always been about community" or rather the lack of, compounded population decline through complex chain reaction from community decline, etc.

-No one eats food. Even if food is already beneficial, it is not a strong enough reason for people to consume it in the current system. This can be solved by adding a negative status to where players have to eat food or they don't regenerate HP/MP at all.
-Material consumption. A system needs to be added where the durability of gear directly correlates to the status bonus gained. Example:
100% Durability gives 120% of base bonus,
90% Durability gives 100% of base bonus,
80% Durability gives 85% of base bonus.
Why so extreme? To enforce people to consume, to no longer allow the zombying a run through boss 1/2/3 at 30% durability. Yes its harsh but it encourages people to be aware of their suck, alot of that in this game.
-Furniture durability. Housing shouldn't be perma mode. It should require maintenance. The larger the house, the more exquisite the furniture; the higher the material cost of maintenance! We have the chocobo stall degradation system in place, maybe add the process to the house's degradation/upkeep. No, it shouldn't be astronomical in costs but rather people should be able to easily gather the mats to maintain it or consume enough of the mats that newer players can acquire the skills to acquire the wealth needed to participate in the housing system.
Thoughts? Please don't troll, hopefully the ideas generated in this thread will give the Dev's some idea on how to retain players instead of encouraging us to hate Moogles.
