Questions on Retainers

1. I have a NIN retainer but the system says he has reached his max level at lv50, but the miner retainer is going towards lv60. is the level cap for DOW retainer lv50?
2. why I am having an impression from some posts that you get FOUR FREE retainers in 3.0?

Your Retainer's level is equal to your own in that class.

Level 50 Rogue means your rogue level is 50. Were it 60, your rogue retainer could reach level 60.
