European Datacenter: will you transfer from a NA/JP server to an EU server?

Since there will be a European Datacenter in mid-October, I kept wondering something: are you going to transfer to a EU server from your current NA server, or will you stay?

I myself am struggling with that as on one hand I have a really great static and we progress a lot in savage, but the time can be depressing sometimes (3am-5am raidtime). If you transfer to a EU server, you may end up risking going into dungeons with people who can't communicate in English. From my experience in other MMO's, European players tend to communicate in their own language rather than English (Germans, French, Spanish etc.) but will that be the case for FFXIV?

I play on Phoenix already so there's no dilemma for me but I would like to point out that, on this server at least, there is no issue with people speaking languages other than English. The most I ever see is FC recruitment shouts in French. Chat is generally always in English and those that speak other languages pretty much always use the auto-translate so there's no issue at all.

I may actually do the opposite (transfer from an EU server to NA one), if the latency becomes worse for me.

Hopefully it won't come to that (given I've made quite a few friends here), but if it does...

I recently transfered form Balmung to Odin and except a german fc shouting once a while and some of my poor fc mates being stuck with a french tank (it's a joke don't shoot me) i have seen nothing but English.
Best is to look up before you transfer tough, there might be unofficial servers where people with the same non English language transfer to.

As I'd lose my FC/server friends, house, garden, gil et al then unless the ping drops to sub 20ms I won't transfer from Leviathan. Even then I won't unless I get to keep everything (except the FC & friends).

They should give 1 free server for 1 character per account to everyone when the EU datacenter opens. Many people from EU decided to play on NA servers because it wouldn't matter latency wise as all the servers were in NA after all but now things will change and being in an EU server from an EU country or near EU it will matter. It will also matter for those playing from Saudi Arabia / Russia etc as EU is way closer than connecting to NA.

unless you main nin, I don't see a great need. Don't pick better connection over friends/static, you'll regret it.

I have some EU friends who joined a server in the NA datacenter cause they knew EU & NA datacenters were in Canada (so it make no differences where they go). Now, since the announcement of a real EU datacenter, they feel a little disgusted to be tied up with the NA datacenter full of latency for them and really hope SE will do an offer to let people in this situation to join EU datacenter (like they did during 1.0 with the free transfert to Ragnarok server for EU players).

And I also met NA players on my EU server and they are afraid to suddenly get a lot of latency without asking anything with that new EU datacenter.

So I hope SE will do something for players in those two situations cause its kinda unfair for them.

My FC and friends are all on Exodus, so probably not... unless I had a very good reason to, like increased latency issues or something (which, thankfully, doesn't really affect me right now).
