Something that would help chocobo racing.

I don't know what kind of addition and changes they are planning for 3.1, but here's a thing I think would help bring a lot of people to chocobo racing and keep it alive for a longer period of time: make it accessible via duty finder.

I think we've all been there waiting for gathering nodes to spawn etc., chocobo racing could be used as a filler when you don't know what to do or are waiting for something (that isn't a queue of course...). As it is now, you have to expressely be at the chocobo square, I think this is bad, because you might just want to do a couple races, and people can't be bothered to teleport to GS and then go to the chocobo square just for one or two races. Basically, I think accessibility would improve chocobo racing a lot, and more people would be open to give it a try.
Chocobo Square could still have its use as you still have all the chocobo stuff vendors there (breeding permits, skill manuals) and if you ever want to retire your chocobo you'd have to go there.

I would welcome that change. I liked chocobo racing when I did it a few times but I don't do it much anymore. I can't say it's because it's a bit annoying to get to just for a few races but if I could do it anywhere rq I would definitely do it more often

I would prefer a change to control, the ui is bad for the races and clunky.

I raced and bred to a lv 4 pedigree only, but really lost interest by that point. I know ppl enjoy it for the chocobo helmet thingy reward...but to me its not worth the time needed, and i think it looks gawdy lol but to each his own.

The currency reward is still lacking even after their adjustment imo.

That is not meant to take away from those that love it!!! if you do thats truly excellent, just my view on it.

Never hurts to suggest op, maybe it would indeed increase participaton for some :)

I would like the following for Chocobo Racing:

1) The ability to race while waiting for a dungeon queue. If the queue pops, just make you auto-exit the race or something like they did with Triple Traid.

2) Add the ability to raise more than one race chocobo. I would love to be able to play around with different builds and abilities, but retiring my chocobo to raise another just to try a build is too much work and MGP lost. If it's a game memory issue, they should just make it so that you can turn your chocobos into a permit which stores the current chocob's stats and everything (kinda like retiring, but also storing xp, stats, color, weather, etc), then allowing you to use that permit to swap back to that chocobo. That way, you can carry several chocobo permits with different builds. This would also extend chocobo game time, because it might encourage people to raise multiple chocobos.

3) The chocobo square should receive the detailed announcements of the Gate events like the other areas of Gold Saucer. Right now, it just says there's a Gate event, but you have to leave the square to see if it's the Typhon or the Dancing one. That's annoying as hell.

4) A weekly challenge log thing for MGP or chocobo xp would be nice

5) Some more rewards would also be nice. Right now we get some achievements/titles and a chocobo mask that legacy people already had. Maybe add a Triple Triad card? Barding? Minion? That would encourage some play.

6) I would love some more maps. Just turn the other zones we have into maps. I would love to race from the exit in Blue Badger's Gate to White Wolf Gate up that tree for example, or from the Observatory to Whitbrim in Dragonhead.

Also on that note, I feel like the R300 races have less obstacles than the R240 one. It was kind of a letdown when it got less intense.

Edit: ooh, and another thing I just thought of. Maybe the first time you get first in a race with Joseph/Teioh, it will unlock a quest/cutscene with him. Maybe he challenges you to a 1v1 race that you have to beat to progress in the quest. That would be cool.

They are adding a gold saucer challange log sometime in the future. Would be nice to be able to queue for choco races anywhere via DF. New zones, and flying races where besides left right also up down counts.
