PS4 controller issues

Using the DS4 (not DS3) for FFXIV results in the typical complaints everyone has, which is the buttons aren't mapped correctly, and nor can you calibrate them.

The two responces everyone gets are;
*Use 3rd party programs (which I will not use a 3rd party program)
*Edit the .cfg file.

I edited the .cfg file, and sure enough, nothing changed when i loaded up the game.
I set it to read only, and sure enough, nothing changed.

I tried a few different combinations, where ppl mapped them to their own tastes, and again, nothing changed.

Is there something in the 2015 version of the .cfg file, that prevents me from seeing a change in the game? (It still saves the changes, when i open the .cfg file back up after loading up the game, so it's not just rewriting it, merely ignoring it.)

There usually multiple lines and they all have to be changed.
