Dragoon question?
Im finishing up my dragoon leveling, but i have a question thats been bugging me and im wondering if anyone can help with it.
At 54, dragoons get blood of the dragon which buffs jump damage, and at 56 (and 58) you get the attacks to keep the buff up.
How are these as big of a dps increase as the new kit for summoners etc. you have two jumps that are affected by botd, which are on a 30 second and 60 second cd. The positional damage of wheeling thrust and claw and fang are both 290, and they both take a gcd, to keep botd up for the long cd jumps and at 60 a 200 potency doom spike that eats 10 seconds of botd time, so doom spike with a 40 potency buff and eats your timer. Whats the point of this? isnt it more efficient to skip the wt/f&c and use those gcd's to continue up a full thrust combo for the 360 potency attack? I'm just not getting how these abilities are worth it. Can someone with more experience on the class possibly explain this?

BOTD on its own isn't that amazing, but when you get to 60 you get Geirskogul, which is. Also consider that you're trading a 150/180 potency opener (true thrust/impulse drive) for a 290 (200) potency fourth hit, then going to your next combo opener. Also, also consider that the fourth hit costs 60 TP for 290 potency, as opposed to 70 TP to start a new combo--it's not a lot in itself, but it adds up quickly in a fight when your GCD is down around 2.4s.

Alright, so first of all, there's a Dragoon guide thread in this sub-forum which I'm betting you haven't read yet.
So like the above poster said, BotD on its own isn't amazing, it's amazing when you reached level 60, and have unlocked Geirskogul, to unlock the maximum potential of a sequenced skills.
It works like this, BotD is a buff, and you can prolong the buff indefinitely with 2 skills, namely WT/FC (+15s duration per skill), which will proc (1 at a time randomly) AFTER either a Chaos Thrust, or Full Thrust combo. To a MAXIMUM of 30 seconds.
And you can only use the 2 skills + Geirskogul WHILE under BotD buff.
*1000 characters max , continued below.

It's been calculated and using 2 skills at its positional (290 potency) gives much higher dps than just repeating Full Thrust Combo. Reason being is the True > Vorpal doesn't really give much damage compared to 1 290 potency weaponskill.
Geirskogul is Doom Spike but it's off-gcd, a 200 potency skill, with a bigger line AoE than a strict Doom Spike.
TL;DR :
Benefit #1 : Buff to Jump / SSD
Benefit #2 : Access to 4th tier skill (WT/FC)
Benefit #3 : Geirskogul
Benefit #4 : I like the Special effects.
Hope that helps clear things up.

Basically, with a well managed rotation, Geirskogul can be used 3 times per minute for a total of 600 off-GCD potency per minute, basically free damage. Wheeling Thrust + Fang & Claw raises the average potency of your main rotation. Also, 2 of your jumps(which are also off-GCD aka free damage) get boosted by this for an extra 120 potency/minute from Jump and 50 potency/minute from Spineshatter.
All of this damage is boosted by Heavy thrust, Disembowel, and Blood for Blood, your DPS is absolutely much better while managing Blood of the Dragon than if you ignore it.

that clears it up. i didnt realize geirskogul is ogcd. or had a bigger line.
Edit: ty for clearing it up
