Bring the stopping animations from 1.0 back for non combat movement.
It was removed because it restricted movement for dodging attacks/spells from enemies. So why not add it for non combat movement?
Players spend a lot of their time running around in the beautiful world of FFXIV. But, the bland animations ruins it for me personally. When I played 1.0, the combat was slow, the progress took forever, but I was immersed in the world because of the animations felt grounded and real.
I can live with the animations overlapping with movements in combat currently because that isn't what I'm paying attention to when I am in a dungeon or raid. I just want the joy I had walking around the city with the amazing animation you guys created.
