There should be Achievement point rewards.....

Was thinking, why not add rewards for reaching a certain number of achievement points similar to how Veteran rewards and commendations work? For instance "Let the Bodies hit the floor" awards points and a crown for 100k mobs, yet when you get "To crush your enemies VII" for 200k kills you don't even get a title or item..... just 30 points. Some of the hardest long term Achievements are nothing but points and seems like a waste. Would love to have a reason to to go through my achievement log and grind away but as it is I can't find any reason to farm them. It wouldn't have to be anything special with low points, (minions, chocobo barding, housing stuff, ect) but for 3k+ I think something like the classic Final Fantasy Characters glamours would give people big incentive to do more content.

Sigh... there are achievement rewards, the points is just an arbitrary metric of how much the achievements you've earned are worth. Much like the trophies of PSN, the rarity just a metric of the worth of PSN achievements. You don't need anything more just for playing the game, that's what Veteran rewards are for.

They can just add one or two meta-achievements. 2000, 4000, 6000 achievement points, etc. But I think the rewards should be similar to the commendation rewards. Just remixed mounts, bardings, minions, etc.

By your logic, you don't need to be rewarded for killing 500,000 enemies, or running 5,000 fates, or clearing a thousand dungeons. Face it, people like small token rewards acknowledging their milestones. And for a game that already obliges that 90% of the time, meta-achievements for total achievement points is something they can add.

There is no difference between acknowledging that I've done 10,000 fates, and acknowledging that I've earned a cumulative 500 achievements.

But you do get rewarded for killing a ton of enemies, it's called the Butcher's Crown. But getting rewarded for getting rewarded is what's being asked for. Double-dipping, so to speak. It's like getting free games from the Playstation Store just for having a high trophy level on PSN.

I actually mentioned that achievement, they added a higher one for 200k kills with no rewards for except 30 useless points so that's not what's being asked. I would at least like a title for that. That's like saying you don't need the crown because you already got a title for 50k kills.

Still, you are expressly asking for rewards when you do get rewards. Clearly there aren't rewards for every achievement, but when you hit the pinnacle achievement there is a reward. Getting rewards just for having a high score cheapens the achievements themselves, and in a community that values achievements to the point of lunacy that'd be tantamount to heresy.

Collecting a relic weapon on one class gets you an achievement, and a weapon-specific title. Collecting all of the relic weapon achievements gets you another achievement, and the title "the insatiable". Double-dipping is already a thing with achievements, and they are called meta-achievements.

What OP and many other people have suggested is a meta-achievement for achievement points. Just as there are meta-achievement for class leveling achievements, relic weapons achievements, job quest achievements, completing all Gold Saucer achievements, etc.

Now, when World of Warcraft did the meta-achievement for achievements, they went with the obvious "Over 9000" joke. Unless we actually get freaking scouters and /crush commands, I'd rather not see that joke appear again.

Unless you feel the same way about the "Armed to the Teeth" achievement cheapening the "Ohohoho!" achievement, and that "the Insatiable" title is harmful to the game when the "Starcaller" title should be enough... I think you're just trying to ruin the fun. If you search for this thread topic on the forums, the second post is almost ALWAYS someone complaining that there shouldn't be meta-achievements. But they already exist, and have been there since 2.0.

"but when you hit the pinnacle achievement there is a reward"........ This is wrong and kinda my whole point. You get a title and points for 50k, which I grinded away for. A Crown and points for 100k which I grinded away for. and the Pinnacle for 200k kills.......just points. Not going to grind that next one just for points, give me a reason to want those points is what I'm asking so I can gun for that final one lol.

Well, part of the reason that occurs is that the devs originally put some of the rewards ludicrously high, and later nerfed the achievements to reward you earlier.

For example, in order to get ALL of the levequest achievements and rewards, you would need to do levequests for over 13 years. At 2.0 launch, the total number of levequests required for achievements was so high, that you would need your 6 per day allowance for two years, just to get the twin adders bracelet item.

They fixed this by reducing the number of required levequests for some achievements (Twin Adder company leves dropped from 5,000 to 500) and making the item rewards appear earlier for others (Protector title rewarded at rank 6 achievement, down from rank 7 achievement).

I guess the devs did the math and realized that the time commitment for the achievements was longer than any other subscription mmo had been on the market, and felt a nerf was necessary.

At the same time they did this, they also made other achievement rewards easier to obtain, such as the title "dungeon master" awarded at 300 dungeons rather than the 1000 dungeon achievement which is actually CALLED "dungeon master". This is the result of the same nerf.


Anyway, the obvious route for an achievement point meta-achievement is to create a title called "the Overachiever", slap it in at total number of points that sounds impressive (I'm at 5590, so probably something higher than that) and call it a day. Maybe have a little crown with a star on it, if you need something to wear. I don't really understand why anyone should object to that.
