My perception is 326

I believe that I hooked one of those Olgoi-Khorkhoi and it got away.

What gives? Is my gathering too low or something?

Most likely your gathering isn't high enough to reach 100% gathering rate on Olgoi. "Most likely" because we don't have any evidence of it to be similar to botanist or miner on the nodes. Plus RNG goddess wasn't on your side on that bite! Keep going and you'll get it eventually.

my fishing retainers are bringing this back for me. might want to just level up and have your retainers do that :\
