So I have never had to post on the ffxiv forums before. In fact i just activated my account to post here and have been playing sense ARR launch. There is a huge problem with this community now. It is extremely toxic. I have a 60 ninja a 60 DRK and i just went back to finish up my bard. So i'm in a dungeon having a good time when all of the sudden im being crucified for having Mage's Bailed up. Being told thats it pointless to have up. Mind you i had it up for the sake of the healer maybe wanting to DPS a little. Every bit of DPS helps. So the other bard in my party is telling me i'm worthless and and i have no clue how a DRK knight plays and blah blah blah. See i have a DRK and i know that when you have Darkside up you don't get the effects of Mage's bailed, but what about when its off. Then Mage's bailed does work. So i tell the Bard maybe she should consider not telling people how to play there jobs. Please read Part 2.

That was it nothing else was said by me. Then all hell broke loose i was told i'm a worthless retard and suck at the game and then was kicked out of the dungeon. Today will be the last time I get on this game, unless there is some saving grace that will fix this toxic community from the egotistical ass holes that consume it. I love Final Fantasy but this happens to much to make me enjoy a game that is no longer fun. If other have had this please let me know your story and how it has effected you.

You can just edit the post to break the limit. But honestly, just ignore anyone who is rude. Sadly its a plague on any game when people seem to get to the end game. =/

Don't have Mage's Ballad up unless someone NEEDS MP...It lowers your dps significantly.

You must not be aware that mage's ballad cuts your own damage by 20%

Well, this community isn't actually that bad (especially when you compare to almost every other MMO on the market) Whenever I get a bad egg in my party I just laugh at their stupidity, I mean...if they're like that here they surely must be a bitter, angry person in real life too.

i know it lowers your DPS. it was just an act of were smashing the mobs really fast why not let the Healer have some fun. And even if they use AOE dps it cost's a lot of mana. But yeah your right about the DPS drop. i also had wanderers minuet up to kinda get rid of it.

To be fair, Mage's Ballad is not good to have up 24/7, since it hurts your own DPS.
As a rule I personally put it up when I see healer at about 40 percent of mana, or if someone asks for it of course. I do tend to point this out to new bards.

However. If the party got rude at you...that's no excuse. I've had people not listen to me in dungeons, it's not going to wipe the party so I usually just suggest it once and that's it.

EDIT:
Healers have ways of regaining MP. WHM: Shroud of Saints. AST: Luminiferous Aether. SCH: Aetherflow. If they aren't using these skills to stay at a good amount of MP (while DPSing, there are always times when shit happens and MP drains) then that is their own fault.

It's not right that they got so buttmad about what you clearly meant to help, but consider of course that Ballad does in fact lower your DPS, and with us ranged already being "weaker" than the other DPS, you can't really afford to deal less damage outside of where it's necessary. The natural HP/MP/TP regens everyone has outside of combat more than makes up for what is used in battle, so Ballad was further unnecessary there.

You meant well, and you weren't wrong for that. Nor did you deserve to be treated that way, but please consider that you were still hampering your own performance in doing so. Consider it a lesson learned, and press forward.

Was the healer low on mp? If not, mage ballad causes bards to do lower damage, so having it on would be an unnecessary decrease in damage.

Sorry about what happened, even people like that are a minority, they are far too common.
