Titanic Sawfish is a joke?

I'm lvl 51 in Fishing and have my gathering at 303, yet when I sense something coming up from the depths I get a message that my gathering isn't high enough to catch it. I have the most Gathering I can get from my gear at lvl 51 and I have every slot filled with +3 or higher gathering gems. What does your gathering need to be??

But you don't have the highest available stats for lv 50 - which is 4 star items from crafting and the lucis rod from upgrading your lv 50 quest rod.


Don't worry, just get to 60 (super easy to do) and gear yourself out with the lv 60 items and then go back for those fishes.

Also in that same spot lives a really Big fish (Pirate's Bane) wich need over 361 gathering, probably you got the buff to caught that fish (need 5 wahoo caught for 5 min buff when Bane can appear)
Gathering 303 should be enough for Titanic Sawfish.

Also as stated by shadowsun, level 51 can have/wear lvl 50 stuff and with food/fc buffs you could have around 423 gathering.

Also you titanic sawfish only appear on clear & fair from 9am-2pm

As said above by Zorlita, if you get a buff/message about sensing something: what you hooked and lost was Pirate's Bane and not Titanic Sawfish.
Titanic Sawfish is a simple mooch with time/weather conditions.
