Co. Workshop, Airship & your FC?

So I'm wondering how your FC has yours set up?
Ours is set so only five people (officers) can start and end projects and send the airships out.

Kind of wonder how this will be beneficial to the regular members since they can bring back crafting materials like the leather for the company tabard.

Edit: kind of thought the workshop would be more to be honest. Maybe each member could make their own ship or something.

I have a feeling most of your replies to this thread will simply be people pointing out they don't even have a FC house to build a workshop in... The vast majority of the playerbase has no access to this feature.

The devs need to completely halt all new housing features until they've found a way to let every player and FC that wants a house buy one.

I dont think the vast majority of the playerbase would be able to afford it if they did have access to it. Even if everyone had a FC, and every FC had a house and a workshop; most players still wouldnt have access to shipbuilding.

Shipbuilding is actually not costly if you gather the matts and craft them yourself.

Ofcourse. Most of the playerbase is willing to spend many hours gathering to make airship parts. Or for that matter most of the playerbase has all crafting classes at high level? And gathering classes?


Remember, its most of the playerbase you made your topic for, isnt it; since you ask about the benefit for regular members of a FC? Altho access for all is something I agree with as well, if they wanted to truly make it accessible for all they would have to rework the amount of types of materials required, and the way of turning them in (have to be the required crafting class)

We have members who's main focus is crafting, so we have a engineer rank who mans it and as well as officers who take more interest in crafting as well. Everyone gives what they can. On the 3rd ship now.

I let anyone who is interested run the airship, strangly that only seems to be me at the moment. I have a hard policy that all materials brought back are either sold/saved/stored for FC use. Any profits accrued go right into the Bank to fund future projects hopefully not out of members pockets.

I have 2 members in my FC so this has been designed to exclude me. This content is utter BS.

They have the option to, its not cut off from them, they just have to choose how they want to gain it. Either work for it (cus you dont need HQ mats, just have 1 person in the FC each level a single craft at best) or buy the mats. We can't have everything spoon fed to people.

No its not, you just have to invite 2 crafters to your party, let them inside your home to aid you in your Airship craft.

I really wish they'd strip out that stupid Light Party requirement, and instead say; "You can have one project going per Free Company member". Outside the themed Housing stuff (which I'm honestly not a fan of at all) none of the projects really strike me as something that can't be soloed with relative ease... I would much rather be able to just solo the damn things and communicate what projects everyone else should do, than have this pathetically forced grouping in place that is there for literally no reason at all... None of these things really require a group to produce, when you advance the progress one person hits a button and the others watch... Why is this a thing? I could understand it if it was like Final Fantasy XIs Synergy crafting, where everyone is involved (but Synergy was an awful thing, please don't do that). Heck, I could even understand it everyone present gets a nice amount of EXP for being there when we advance progress. None of that happens though. I tell people to turn up. Waste their time in the process. Hit a button and we're done. It is just so stupid.

I'd also love to see more recipes in the thing... Not too sure why the Company gear wasn't put in the Workshop... The Workshop needs a gear section, there is such potential for awesomeness with that... Have a branching recipe that lets you create a "unique" looking piece of gear. How fucking awesome would that be? You and your Company could effectively design a uniform. More recipes and individuals having their own "tab" on the workstation would be a massive improvement IMO, people could go in there, start their own project, contribute a bit to others projects. Would create a much better community atmosphere than forcing three others to watch a bleedin' cutscene... Yes that really annoys me more than it should... It's just so stupid how I have to waste three other peoples time for no real reason...

Airships themselves... Not to bothered with... They're currently Retainer Ventures, nobody is really missing out on much; if a Free Company Leader is siphoning off the rewards for their own needs, that's an issue with the leadership, not the system. Really, any money earned from stuff like the Materia should be put back into the Free Company in order to do whatever the hell you all want with it; Pay members, buy furniture, speed up Airship construction because holy crap how much Coke do I need? The meat of the Airship content is meant to come in 3.1, when we'll actually be able to ride them as a group to visit various floating islands. I'm cautiously optimistic about that, it has potential to be a great piece of content that really gives Free Companies purpose again... (again? did they ever really have purpose?)

I guess it would be nice to be able to assign control of individual Airships though, that would be a nice QoL adjustment to the system; You could effectively assign crews seeing as we do get multiple ships eventually, and the cap is apparently going to rise in the future...
