Question regarding inactivity

I recently, after over a year of much blood sweat and tears with a lot of luck, got my hands on a personal house. However...it came to me at an inopportune time. I'm going to be going through a move that will basically cause me to be starting completely over in my life again.

But that doesn't mean I want to lose my FFXIV house. I plan to come back to FFXIV, and I'd prefer it to not be homeless again when I do. I will have enough to keep my account active, but I will be unable to actually log in to my account until I have settled in again. And I'm not sure how long that will take. I'm guessing a few months.

So my question is this: After reading players lose ownership of their house with 35 days of inactivity, does that mean I need to actually log in? Or can my account just stay active without the fear of losing my house?

You can unsub for a year, mate, there's no inactivity penalty at all.

Currently, there is no penalty for inactivity. SE was going to implement one, but too many people threw a fit. NOW lots of people want one because there are houses sitting abandoned for a year or more.

So you're good. I'd just watch for changes from SE, and make sure they aren't starting that up while you're gone.

I believe if you cancel your account you lose the property. Basically - if you're on someone's friend list and it says (Deleted), your property is deleted too.

Yeah, if your character no longer exists (say, if you delete a character), then yes you lose your house because it attaches to the character, not the account. But simply having an inactive subscription, as of yet, will not lose you your house.
