1.19 - Awesome Changes!

I'm loving the following so far:

-Chocobo
-Airship
-Fast Active Mode Switch
-XP Showed above head (small things matter to me)
-New Optimal Rank displays
-Smoother UI (Fight something and see what i mean)

Servers are teamed with life and its not even peak hour! It's been a while!!!!

BEST PATCH SO FAR, thank you SE!!!!

I can't wait to get in... waiting on my patch. I'm very excited haha!

This patch does NOT dissapoint!

Gear is more like XI, greater impact.
Can't solo monsters well above your level anymore.
Parties more realistically needed.

My favourite so far:
- Fast active mode switch
- Exp showing
- Item drop text
- New attack animations
- The link thing when fighting multiple enemies
- Chocobos

I LOVE the enemy grouping now. Can FINALLY make use of better strategies and crowd control abilities. Also XP chaining on chigoes with friends at low levels is fun. :P

Yes, some of that stuff is great... but how can you completely neglect to mention the fact that they totally altered the way combat works, and completely nerfed the ability to rank up at low levels? My r8 lancer got 3 shotted by a level 11 marmot... and can't even finish a 1 star r10 leve now because I only have 180 hp. There is something seriously wrong here.

I want to second this. I love the chocos and the ships and not needing to enter active mode for certain skills now and even some of the new content

BUUUUUUUT

All of that means nothing to me anymore. They screwed combat SO BAD it's not even funny. It feels like a cruel joke to do any kind of grinding at lower levels and you can forget about soloing Behests. How nice of them to lower the timer to 30 mins only to find out you need to actively seek a group to do them...

Don't get me started on mages either

BROKEN!!!! Casting is retarded expensive and our physical attacks do jack SQUAT dmg so were forced to spam nukes and drain mp rapidly.

SE puts in exp chains, yet mobs take so long to kill now theres no way you're go to get them with anything less tan 2 to 3 ppl in a group.

This force to pt with ppl heavily turned me off from playing FFXI and is doing the same to me now with this patch.

SE should learn something from the most successful MMO ever WoW:

KEEP SOLO-ABILITY OR SCREW YOURSELF OVER.


I didn't think it was possible to dig past hitting rock bottom, but SE seems to have found a way to do so.

Just listen to the random outcries in shout and chat all over. If you're eyes aren't over-optimistic you just might see that ppl aren't digging this patch to well. Especially new players.

Talk about a bad start for PS3 players if they launch anytime soon lol.

Hopefully SE will address this seriously unbalanced combat QUICKLY.
